Welcome to the Study Circle blog ... it has been set up in response to requests from several members in the hope that it will allow speedy and easy communication between members and virtually immediate discussion of any and all philatelic matters that might arise.
Since it will be virtually unmonitored, we depend on members' good sense in avoiding off-topic or defamatory comments: when spotted, these will be removed as quickly as possible.
Initially this is a cautious toe in the water to test reaction. We hope it will help to bring members together with a quick method of communication, allowing illustrations and website discoveries to be notified to colleagues and responses to be posted with ease.
So here it is ... use it well, use it often. The world is getting smaller day by day...

This is a great idea and I hope that it takes off like a rocket. Of course, it will take time for members to use it but I am looking forward to it getting better sa time goes by.

I am happy to find this blog for communicate with other ESC members.

Before all, excuse my scholar english. My studies are far in my past, and I have not really frequent opportunities to speak your language. If I can read and understand well and write it relatively correctly when I have time for an article or a letter, it is not the condition when I am on internet.

For a best knowledge, I present myself. I am French, living in Marseille, born in 1957.
I collect Egypt and I am ESC member since 2000, after the issue and reading of Peter SMITH's book. I collect only the 3rd and 4th periods of 4th Sphynx & Pyramids in millièmes and piastres between 1888 and 1915, for Egypt and Sudan. I am specialized in postal history.
I collect also:
- Philately Postal History of Haiti 1904-1920 around bicentenary issues stamps and "by-products" (overprinted stamps in later years),
- Philately and Postal history of Portugal 1931-1938 around Lusiadas issues,
- Philately and Postal history of France 1930-1931 around the "femme fachi" issues of the Colonial International Exposition in Paris in 1931.

I have also a blog where I write (in French) and show pieces of my collection and actualities of modern postal history.

I have a lot of question to put. I shall try to have time in next days to put them here.

Hello, Just popping up to say hi. I collect Egyptian stamps and live in Iowa, about 400 km W of Chicago. There aren't many other such collectors in my area.
But the oldest Mosque in the western hemisphere is about 4 km from my house.

Happy New Year.

My collecting interest are:
Egyptian Hotel postmarks and hotel illustrated covers,
Postal Concession Period (1932-1941)
Machin fractional values.

It is too bad that the blog hasn't been used. Perhaps it should be shut down and the effort devoted to the ESC website.
